Thanks for posting Johnson. You bring up some good ideas in your post, many of which we had considered in designing the system. In response to your first suggestion, currently our helms sell for 35m. According to our point system, this would require 35 / 5 * 9 = 63 points for a member to earn a zhelm. Instead, members can earn helms with just 40 points. In other words, members do enjoy a sizable discount if they decide to save their points for a zhelm ^^ In response to your second and third suggestions: The exchange rate was set so that the money from a full number of successful buyers from a zrun will go directly to the survivors. Of course, not all of our runs will have a full number of successful buyers (for example, some buyers may fail for that run). The mesos earned from drops will cover runs with low buyer attendance or low buyer success, along with covering the apple cost. You mentioned that you believe the best way to decide cuts is by drops. If we do it by drops, however, we won't be able to give out cuts until the drops are sold. It can take days or even a week or more for some drops to be sold by our designated merchants. With 4+ runs a week now, the confusion and hassle of hosts trying to figure out how much each person should get for a run 5 runs ago, and the potential for misunderstanding and drama is too great to justify using this method of cuts. Finally, the system was not designed to "build up" guild funds. We have no use for guild funds. One of the things unique about Peerless is that the guild, in its almost 2-year history, has never accepted donations (click on "Joining" in the upper menu to learn more), and is not now about to under the guise of a guild fund. Another way to view it is that from an economic standpoint, your 2nd suggestion and your 3rd suggestion essentially cancel each other out. Thanks again for your suggestions and I look forward to continuing the discussion with everyone to further improve the system. |
